Fair Lawn Jewish Day Camp Brings Yiddishkeit to Campers

(Courtesy of FL Jewish Day Camp) For the 14th consecutive year, Fair Lawn Jewish Day Camp, directed by Rabbi Mendel and Elke Zaltzman, serving the Russian Jewish Community of Bergen County, took its annual photograph with the campers and elected officials.

Fair Lawn Jewish Day Camp gives children who are not yet affiliated the opportunity to be a part of the Jewish community and to taste the richness of Jewish life, the beauty of its holidays and the traditions of mitzvot. The children hail from over 60 towns in Bergen County as well as from Passaic and Union counties. The camp is licensed, with professional counselors, swimming every day, and multiple trips throughout the week. The children are provided with a hot nourishing lunch and delicious snacks daily.

The children shared their enjoyment and passion for the camp with the elected officials, and how they wait from year to year to take part in this very special experience.

The elected officials presented proclamations from their offices commemorating the day, and Rabbi Kanelsky distributed honey jars to them in honor of the upcoming Jewish New Year.

With COVID precautions taken this year, the photo was done outside. The directors are seated in the center of the photo.
