The First Annual Play4Partners 3 on 3 Men’s Basketball Tournament will take place on Sunday, March 19, at 5 pm, at Island Garden Basketball Sports Center, 45 Cherry Valley Avenue in West Hempstead, New York.
Play4Partners Basketball is a partnership between the American Friends of Sderot and Partners in Torah.
American Friends of Sderot runs programs and events throughout the year to raise awareness and much needed funds for the Hesder Yeshiva and the community of Sderot. Sderot is a town of 25,000 residents located in Southern Israel just one mile from the Gaza border. It is under constant threat of terror attacks by Kassam rockets as well as infiltration tunnels. The centerpiece of the town is the Hesder Yeshiva of Sderot, which provides communal leadership, social outreach and religious services so desperately needed in the community..
Partners in Torah seeks to unify the Jewish people through the power of Jewish learning. Jews across the spectrum of affiliation and observance seeking to deepen their knowledge of Jewish texts, philosophy and culture are paired up with knowledgeable mentors, whose aim is to share their time and knowledge. The 30-45 minute weekly study sessions which, for the most part, take place over the phone, often lead to lasting friendships.
Through the Play4Partners Basketball Tournament, American Friends of Sderot and Partners in Torah will combine the power and the passion of competitive team sports to strengthen Jewish unity.
Registration for Play4Partners is free and only requires a minimum per team commitment to jointly solicit $2,000 in sponsorships from friends and acquaintances. Players will receive their own personal webpage for solicitations. Each participating team will play four games leading up to the playoff rounds. Every player receives a complimentary tournament jersey, bag, towel and more. The playoffs and championships will be followed by an onsite gala banquet for the players, their immediate families and sponsors.
Corporate teams can brand their own teams with their company name and logo on their team jersey. Corporate team sponsorships start at $3,000.
NY Knicks legend John Starks will be the tournament host and will coach the top fundraising team as they compete to become tournament champions. The top fundraising team will also win four Legends seats to a 2017 Yankee game.
The winning team will get a VIP Basketball Experience– four premium tickets to a Knicks game of their choice and postgame passes to meet all their favorite Knicks stars.
