(Frisch Sports) For the second time in as many years, Frisch, coached by Leora Moskowitz, narrowly beat Flatbush in a highly competitive match. The winning team needs to win at least three of five individual matches. Flatbush jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a win each from their first singles and first doubles. Flatbush was also ahead in the second doubles match, where a win would have clinched the championship. However, the Frisch duo of Eliana Tilem and Leebee Bendheim methodically worked themselves back and won the match 10-8. Next, Danya Langer from Frisch led wire to wire and closed it out at 10-5 making the total score between the two undefeated high schools 2-2 with one match remaining. Jackie Carter was up 7-2 and allowed her opponent back into the match who pulled within one game at 8-7. Jackie went on to win the next two games and the Frisch Cougars clinched the title. Team captain Brooke Carter said, “Flatbush had such a strong team and this was our toughest match all season, we’re glad we pulled together for the championship.”
