The Frisch junior varsity basketball season is underway. With five sophomores returning from last year and the addition of three sophomores and six freshman players, the team is excited to attempt a repeat of its championship last year. The players include returning sophomores Asaf Miller, Noam Kuritzky, Stevie Paul, Jack Stepner and Judah (Jud) Strulowitz. The new sophomore players are Evan Chesner, Moshe Shoenfeld and Jack Levine. Freshmen Jack Reinhart, Max Mayerhof, Benny Matheson, Jake Fromen, Jay Jay Blinken and Joey Strobela also join the team. This group of players has the combined talent and the motivation to go all the way.
This 2015-2016 JV team is made up of a hardworking crew that plans to use speed, agility and strong defense to defeat its opponents. The team is fortunate to welcome back coaches Dovey Forman and Gabriel Davidoff to lead the team. With intense practices and their regular guidance, Forman and Davidoff will ensure the players are well conditioned and ready for the challenges of the upcoming season.
The team this year brings significant size under the basket as well as speed and efficiency at the top of the arc to form a strong balance. Importantly, the players will rely on good judgement, and look to straddle being aggressive on the court with protecting the ball, and playing smart. Despite the inclination to dwell on last year’s success, the JV team is currently focused on “the now.” They have already started working well together to get ready for the season, with the hope of another championship.
