Guest Speakers Bring Real-World Perspectives to Ma’ayanot

On Monday, April 4, alumna Ilana Levin ‘03 returned to Ma’ayanot to present to Ms. Sarah Gordon’s 10th grade Talmud class on the topic “Minor, Mother, and Murderer: Can Anyone be Trusted as a Witness?” The class, which is currently learning Masechet Makkot, was treated to a comparative law lesson that explored similarities and differences in how witnesses are utilized in the halachic and American legal systems. Ms. Levin, who currently practices employment law and general litigation, earned her bachelors from Stern College and her J. D. from Harvard Law School.

During that same week, students in Mrs. Elise Vitow’s senior Real World Finance elective welcomed Mr. Jacob (Yitzie) Solomon, father of Atara Solomon ‘16, to speak on the topic of financial planning. Mr. Solomon, who is a certified financial planner, outlined some of the ways individuals and families can manage their finances to be as prepared as possible, from a financial standpoint, for what life may bring.
