He’Atid Welcomes Guest Speaker

He’Atid sixth and seventh graders recently had the privilege of hosting Jordan B. Gorfinkel, also known as “Gorf,” an influential figure in both the comic book world and Jewish education. Gorf, who previously managed the Batman franchise for DC Comics, is now the creative mind behind the Koren Graphic Novel Tanakh series, which includes the Pesach Haggadah and the Megillot of Esther and Yona.

During his visit, Gorf shared fascinating insights on the theme of secret identities in the Torah, highlighting how biblical figures often hide their true selves or rise to greatness during moments of challenge. Drawing from Pirkei Avot, he inspired students with the timeless message: “In a place where there are no heroes, strive to be a (super)hero.” His powerful lesson encouraged students to embrace their Jewish identity as a unique superpower that can make a real difference in the world.

He’Atid is grateful to Gorf for sharing his creativity, wisdom and inspiring message with its students!
