This past week, Heichal HaTorah started the chess season on a high, defeating their opponent in their first chess match of the season with a score of 13-1. The chess team, led by faculty advisor Joseph Pitre, consists of ninth through 12th grade talmidim who meet for weekly practices prior to night seder. The team competes with other yeshivos in the Western Division of the Metropolitan Yeshiva Chess League, culminating in a playoff at the end of the season. Coach Pitre commented on how confident the boys seemed throughout the event and how proud he was of their sportsmanship. The team looks forward to continued success and building skills along the way.
