Creating and designing the code behind a video game is no small task. Yet this past month, Azriel Laster, a Heichal HaTorah junior, won the gamesalad.com National Video Game Creator Challenge, winning a brand new laptop as the grand prize. The goal of the competition was to create a novel video game. Azriel decided which game engine to use, employed multiple playing platforms, built a prototype and designed the code behind his unique program idea. While he himself does not often play video games, Azriel commented how he very much enjoys the coding aspect behind the game design. Azriel is presently taking an engineering course at Heichal HaTorah and incorporated much of the knowledge he developed in the course into designing the various elements that go into video game design.
