Helping Children Appreciate Reading

This summer, while many children may be running away from school and books, I hope to make reading fun. I will be busy learning and preparing for my bat mitzvah, and I have also chosen to do a chesed project helping children appreciate reading.

The name of my chesed project is “Amalya’s Summer Reading Club.” Girls entering into second and third grade can join me for small group reading sessions where we will focus on making reading fun. We will use many different techniques including drama, art and others with the goal of making reading fun. I love to read and hope to inspire others to do so as well.

For these hourly sessions, I am asking parents to contribute $12. With the tzedakah raised, I hope to help other children. I have chosen to support the Tomorrow’s Children’s Fund for my bat mitzvah project. This important organization can use help purchasing toys and games for teenagers in Hackensack University Medical Center receiving treatments.
