Herzog Medical Center Welcomes President Herzog

On Monday, August 1, President Isaac Herzog and his wife Michal made an official visit to Herzog Medical Center in Jerusalem, Israel.

“I see my grandmother’s legacy in front of my eyes,” remarked Israel’s current President. The hospital is named after his late grandmother, Rabbanit Sarah Herzog who served as the volunteer president for over 30 years (1943-79).

During his visit, President Herzog toured the hospital’s new Rehabilitation Center (Sampson Pavilion) where the latest virtual reality equipment was demonstrated in the physical and occupational therapy departments. He also viewed the Emergency Underground Hospital, which was converted into a 120 bed COVID Isolation unit at the request of Israel’s Ministry of Health, and met with graduates of Herzog’s Nurses Aid Training program, comprised of Ethiopian immigrants who are now currently employed at the hospital. At the end of his visit, he spoke with the staff about the hospital’s special role in his upbringing, since he was a child, and presented the Board of Directors with certificates of appreciation.
