Hold Me Tight ® Provides Marriage Seminar for Orthodox Couples

Join Hold Me Tight for a two-day workshop for Orthodox couples, intended to help build an emotionally connected marriage. The seminar will be held on Sunday and Monday, July 9 and 10, on the Upper West Side in New York City. The cost is $665 per couple, $620 for those registering by May 31. Space is limited to 25 couples.

Hold Me Tight two-day seminar is an evidence-based relationship enrichment program developed by Dr. Susan Johnson, an internationally recognized researcher and creator of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples. This psychodynamic program has been offered nationally and internationally and it is the first time it is being offered to the observant Jewish community exclusively.

It is designed to teach spouses/partners how to move away from cycles of conflict, increase emotional responsiveness, forgive old wounds and rekindle desire and affection. The program offers communication techniques for when partners are inaccessible and in the grip of strong emotion. This seminar will help to de-escalate negative patterns and scripts that erode bonds and allow partners to re-engage securely and meaningfully.

At the seminar, participants will be presented with findings from marriage and attachment research in order for them to make sense of the cycles in which couples find themselves stuck. They will also watch engaging videos of other couples whose interaction represents the most common patterns of conflict.

At various times, couples will be asked to break off from the group and engage in structured conversation. They will not be asked to work with anyone other than their spouse and are not required to share any personal experiences with the larger group.

Presenters include Debi Scimeca-Diaz, LMFT, certified ICEEFT trainer and director of the New Jersey EFT Center, and Dr. Alan Zwerdling, PhD, licensed psychologist and ICEEFT certified EFT therapist.

For more information and registration, contact Marcy Davidovics, LCSW, EFT candidate, at [email protected] or 917-586-5360.

A list of hotels and kosher restaurants is available.
