Inaugural Fair Lawn Mikvah Fundraiser: An Evening of Achdut

On Motzei Shabbat, February 17, an overflow crowd of 180 women attended the first-ever dinner/fundraiser for the Chava Faiga Mikvah in Fair Lawn. The event was held in the social hall of Shomrei Torah, but there was representation from across the town’s shuls, with all community rebbetzins in attendance. Additionally, participants spanned all age groups.

Shira Teichman, director of the Fair Lawn Mikvah Association, shared with The Jewish Link that “along with the beautiful ambience, there was so much positive energy at the event, with a true sense of unity and camaraderie.” Following her opening remarks, the women recited Tehillim, concluding with an inspiring Acheinu.

The featured speaker was Rorie Weisberg, health ambassador at Kosher.com and author of the newly released cookbook “Food You Love: That Loves You Back.” Her topic was self-care from a Jewish woman’s perspective. Afterwards, there was a raffle drawing followed by a rousing kumzitz. The evening was topped off with a sit down dairy dinner catered by Ma’adan.

As a social gathering, the event created achdut among women who may not regularly interact. As a fundraiser, it was characterized as “extremely successful.” Truly, it was a win/win evening all around.
