Israel War Heroes Speak at SAR HS

A picture may be worth a thousand words but listening to a story first hand creates a vivid image that’s hard to obtain from a photo alone. This week, several speakers who were on the front lines and in the line of fire in the October 7 war, addressed SAR High School to tell their stories. Early in the week, reservists from Tzahal’s Egoz unit spoke with a group of seniors about their recent war experiences. The soldiers described the sense of unity that binds Israeli society and expressed appreciation for the relationship between diaspora and Israeli Jewry. On Taanit Esther, Ron Segev, an attendee of the Nova Music Festival, told the survival story of his escape from the area with his brother and two best friends. As they ran for their lives, they encountered terrorists head on and kept running. They managed to find an empty car and jumped in. On the way to safety in the vehicle, they were able to help many other people and drive them to safer places. He told a very traumatic story and concluded that we need to have faith in Hashem and spread love, light and the Jewish spirit to the world. He encouraged people to be strong and said he believes there will be better days.
