JCC MetroWest Announces 15th Annual Gaelen Juried Art Show & Sale

The 16th Annual Gaelen Juried Art Show & Sale, sponsored by Audrey and Norbert Gaelen of West Orange, will open on Sunday, May 17, and run through Sunday, June 28, at the Gaelen Gallery West of the Lautenberg Family Center, Aidekman Campus, 901 Route 10 East, Whippany. This year 88 works by 56 artists will be featured in the following media: drawing, mixed media, painting, photography and sculpture.

An Opening Reception will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2 p.m.–4 p.m. Best in Show, Best in Medium, and Honorable Mention awards will be presented in six categories at 2:30 p.m. The Gaelens will also present a specially designed glass gift to each of the juried winners. This year’s distinguished panel of judges includes Lora Urbanelli, Director of the Montclair Art Museum; Lawrence Cappiello, Executive Director of Arts Guild New Jersey in Rahway and Elaine Brodie, Director of the McGraw Gallery and Fine Arts Chairperson at Newark Academy.

Most of the art in this highly selective and prestigious show is for sale. An artist resource book with information about each artist will be available. Each guest receives a free full-color illustrated catalog.

Audrey and Norbert Gaelen are connoisseurs of fine art who are long-time supporters of the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ. This show is the continued realization of their dream to offer talented and creative artists in the surrounding community a unique venue for their art. Members of the Gaelen Juried Art Show & Sale Committee include Gary Denburg, Simon Leventhal, Bernard Morcheles, Lois Dyer, Julie Levine and Oscar Peterson. Lisa Suss is the Gaelen Show Coordinator.

The exhibition is free and open to the public, May 18–June 22. Gallery hours are Monday–Thursday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m.–4 p.m.; and Sunday (hours vary, please call).
