JEC experienced a true taste of Israel on Yom Ha’atzmaut as students “visited” different areas of the country experiencing a variety of fun activities. They began their day with a tekes and Hallel in the courtyard. They then made beach sensory bottles, learned about the Maccabi Israel basketball team and had fun playing a basketball game. They also wrote letters to put in the Kotel, played trivia games, trained like a member of Tzahal through an interactive experience led by Rishona Shalev, learned about an Israeli organization Achi and made a special kli for Israel, played an interactive map game and made their very own Israeli salad. Morah Batsheva created a fun and immersive Israeli experience for early childhood students. The day ended with some yummy blue and white cookies and a kehillah-wide assembly which included a special daglanut performance by the fourth and fifth grade girls.
