When it comes to chesed and social action, nobody can beat the students at the JEC. The school often runs food and various other drives to benefit the JFS Kosher Food Pantry and other worthy organizations, and this year, when they got the call right after Thanksgiving, students and faculty alike were quick to respond. “JFS was inundated with kosher turkey donations leading up to Thanksgiving,” said Steve Karp, the JEC’s executive director. “But as soon as Thanksgiving ended they were down to nothing. Our students answered that call and have already filled five boxes full of provisions to replenish the kosher food bank.”

It is noteworthy that the items donated are primarily high quality and nutritious goods and JEC families took great care and concern in choosing what to send in. “These are for our brothers and sisters,” said one parent who wished to remain anonymous. “Of course I would send them good food.”
