Students in Mrs. Shaindel Gelbfish’s fourth grade class celebrated their completion of Parshat Vayishlach with a siyum. The girls fashioned oversized bows, which they and their teacher all wore for the occasion, and together they baked cookies for the celebratory party.
“The girls made cookies that had to do with the parsha,” said Mrs. Gelbfish. Some girls made ring shapes, depicting marriage, while others made hearts, symbolizing birth and death.”
The siyum marked a milestone for the students, who for the first time included full Rashi and other meforshim in their completion of the parsha. “We learned more details than we used to in the younger grades,” said Hanna Schechter of Hillside. “It really felt good. And the cookies were also delicious.”
