(Courtesy of JFCSNNJ) On April 3, Jewish Family and Children’s Services of Northern New Jersey (JFCS) celebrated its volunteers at the first annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon held at CareOne at The Cupola, Paramus. Volunteers gathered for an afternoon of education, socialization, entertainment and delicious food. JFCS’s volunteers are an important part of the agency and provide essential support, ensuring that JFCS is the mental health and social safety net for our community. JFCS appreciates all that the volunteers contribute and was grateful for the opportunity to honor them.
The event kicked off with CPR training led by Doug Tobin of Metropolitan Medical Corporation (funded by The Sephardic Foundation on Aging). Participants learned infant, child and adult CPR, and found the session highly informative and insightful. Following the training was a glatt kosher meal catered by CareOne and speeches by Susan Greenbaum, JFCS CEO, and Jennifer Van Dam, CareOne at The Cupola director of sales and marketing. The event ended with an engaging origami lesson by JFCS volunteer Ilene Kahn.
JFCS’s volunteers are integral to how JFCS serves the community. Volunteers are core contributors to its Kosher Meals on Wheels, Friendly Visitor, Telephone Reassurance, Cooking Companion, RAISE, Corner Market Food Pantry, and ClubEd After School programs. They provide thousands of hours of valuable services and allow JFCS to operate effectively and efficiently. This event was a small token of appreciation for JFCS’s 200-plus volunteers, who are committed to improving the lives of those in need.
