The Jewish Home Assisted Living in River Vale, NJ is hosting a series of health workshops, empowering those with chronic illnesses to take control of their health.

The peer-led programs give people with chronic conditions and/or their caregivers the knowledge, skills and confidence to take a more active role in their health care. The workshops are held once a week for six weeks.

Participants learn strategies for managing symptoms, working with healthcare professionals, setting weekly goals, problem-solving, relaxing, handling difficult emotions, eating well, and exercising safely and easily.

The program is sponsored by the Bergen County Department of Health Services.
