Jewish Home to Screen Film About Seniors Finding Love

(Courtesy of The Jewish Home) The Jewish Home Family, which runs the Jewish Home at Rockleigh, Jewish Home Assisted Living in River Vale and Jewish Home at Home, is screening the movie “The Age of Love” on February 24 at 6:30 p.m.

The screening will be free and take place online but registration is required at jewishhomefamily.org/love.

“The Age of Love” follows the humorous and poignant adventures of 30 seniors in Rochester, New York, who sign up for a first-of-its-kind speed dating event exclusively for 70- to 90-year-olds. From anxious anticipation through the dates that follow, it’s an unexpected tale of intrepid seniors who lay their hearts on the line, and discover how emotional needs and desires change—or don’t change—from first love to the far reaches of life.

Playful and revealing, wise and inspiring, our senior daters entertain and enlighten with a candor that puts media stereotypes to shame. Just as we’re all destined to age, and the aged were all once young, we suddenly come to realize just how much, and how little, our hearts change over a lifetime.

The screening is part of a series of community events by the Jewish Home that has included a screening of Anthony Hopkins’ “The Father” at Garden State Plaza, fine dining events for people living with dementia and their spouses, and informational sessions on all aspects of elder care and healing. The Jewish Home at Rockleigh is in the final stages of opening a new Center for Rehabilitation Excellence with extensive aquatics and warm water therapies, and Jewish Home Assisted Living is pioneering a small-house real home model of care at its Memory Lane dementia care unit.
