JFCS Holds Annual ‘Ride to Fight Hunger’

(Courtesy of JFCS) Jewish Family and Children’s Services of Northern New Jersey (JFCS) held its 13th annual Ride to Fight Hunger on June 11. JFCS provides comprehensive social and mental health services to the entire northern New Jersey community, and the money raised from this event goes a long way in ensuring that they can continue helping all who call upon them for help.

The weather was beautiful as over 200 people gathered for a morning of biking, hiking, food, magic, carnival games, face painting, glitter tattoos, and balloon twisting. Adults, teenagers, adolescents and young children all had a blast.

This year JFCS had hoped to raise $225,000 and is close to reaching their goal. With the help of the community they are confident they can hit their target. To donate to the Ride to Fight Hunger and JFCS, visit ridetofighthunger.com.

JFCS sees approximately 120 new clients every month, with each department seeing an uptick in requests for service. Many of these people have nowhere else to turn to and depend on JFCS’s services (most of which have no or very little cost) in order to get by. Whether a family needs mental health therapy because of a loss of a loved one, or a single mother needs food assistance, or an unemployed father is looking to get back to work, or a family is in desperate need of rental assistance, JFCS is there for them all.
