JFS MetroWest Offers Free Programs for Parents of School-Age Children

JFS MetroWest is pleased to announce that it is offering free programs for parents of children of all ages in September and October. There are three separate events scheduled, one for preschool parents, one for parents of elementary school children and one for parents of fifth through eighth graders.

The first program, “Helping Your Preteen Thrive” will be taking place on September 26 at 10 a.m. at the Millburn Library, 200 Glen Avenue, Millburn. Jodi Fox, LCSW, at JFS MetroWest will be leading a discussion about embracing changes during early adolescence, addressing social and emotional challenges and discussing strategies to parent more effectively. The second program, intended for parents of elementary school children, “Parental Controls… My child has/wants a phone…now what?” will be taking place at a private home in Short Hills on October 11. The final program, “Raising an Empathetic Child” will be taking place on October 18, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Congregation B’nai Jeshurun in Short Hills and will include a discussion about emotional intelligence, social problem-solving skills and peer conflict. All programs are free and open to the community. For more information or to register, please contact Sylvia Heller, MPH, at 973-765-9050 ext 1708 or [email protected].
