All of JKHA and RKYHS came together for a “Thanks for Giving” assembly. On Thanksgiving each year the entire school community joins together to say thank you to members within the school family.
JKHA and RKYHS as a school has taken many opportunities the last few weeks to show their gratitude to soldiers in the IDF, including alumni who are serving, and on the eve of Thanksgiving they had the opportunity to say thank you to those members of the staff who have served in the IDF. Early childhood students were filmed asking the questions they had for former soldiers in a way only young children can! Middle school presented a Kahoot game in which students had to guess which teacher was in the photo from their IDF service, and high school presented a video they produced of students throughout the whole school saying thank you to the IDF and giving tzedaka. The collection of money was hand delivered by Head of School Rabbi Rubin to the IDF on his recent trip to Israel. Each of the valued faculty members received a JKHA/RKYHS IDF co-branded T-shirt to wear proudly.
The assembly closed with the JKHA choir leading everyone in the Star Spangled Banner, Hatikvah, and the tefillah for Medinat Yisrael and Tzahal. It was a beautiful sound to hear the entire school from the youngest learners in EC3 to the oldest 12th graders join together to show gratitude and say tefillot in unison.
