As part of the JKHA “Make Your Month Meaningful” program, second grade is excited to be leading the theme of the month for Tevet. This month’s theme is achdut—unity. JKHA students will have the opportunity this month to think and act on the idea of unity. They will look through a social, historical, charitable and communal lens to identify ways to unite the Jewish community, both in school and beyond, as well as the local community right here in New Jersey.
Students will run a clothing drive to gather clothing for the homeless in Newark, learn and recite a chapter of Tehillim for the cholim in the community, focus on ways to unite with fellow Jews in the IDF and think about unity and inclusion through a historical framework while learning about the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.
Second grade was eager to create posters to motivate the lower school classes to participate in acts of achdut. Once twenty acts of achdut are recorded on the class poster, each child in the class will earn their achdut bracelet. JKHA students feel empowered by their leadership role and motivated to set a stellar example of achdut for the whole school.
