In JKHA sixth grade Chumash class, after completing the unit that discusses Bnei Yisrael’s complaints about the desert and their dislike of the man that they were eating, faculty members students discussed the idea of gratefulness and ungratefulness. Students watched a video that discussed the importance of gratefulness and how it is even beneficial for one’s health. The discussion concluded with students each beginning their own gratitude journals. Each day they spend the first three minutes of class writing in their gratitude journals. This meaningful project will conclude before Pesach when they apply these ideas to the paragraph of Dayenu at the Seder where we list the many things for which we are grateful to Hashem.
