Second graders at JKHA visited the MakerSpace in the library before Thanksgiving. In conjunction with their Thanksgiving unit, the students were challenged to build different types of Native American shelters that they had studied in class. Each group was given a few supplies/resources like the Native Americans had (which reminded them of how the Pilgrims had to use natural resources when they arrived in Plymouth), and could not ask for any help. They had one hour to plan, build and present. They also reflected on their experience and thought about how they would do things differently next time. They all did a wonderful job collaborating, being creative and presenting their projects
