After reading the book “The Hundred Dresses,” the second graders at JKHA decided that even though they couldn’t help Wanda, the main character who was teased for being poor and always wearing the same faded dress, they wanted to try and help people who might be in a similar situation as Wanda. After meeting with Rabbi Kirsch and the high school homeless awareness chug, they decided to hold a clothing drive.
The second graders were thrilled to bring all the many many bags of clothes that they collected to Rabbi Kirsch and the members of the homeless awareness chug this week.
Thirty RKYHS students braved the cold to bring the clothing from the second graders to the homeless living on the streets of Newark who were incredibly thankful for the warm jackets, blankets and clothing.
