JKHA Students Create Comics for Yom Ha’atzmaut

JKHA lower school was so excited to welcome Andrew Galitzer of Torah Comics to school. Galitzer is an artist and cartoonist who creates Torah comics and cartooning workshops. In honor of Israel’s 75th birthday students are creating a History of Israel comic book to be ready for Yom Ha’atzmaut. Each class focused on a different point of Israel’s history and learned from Galitzer how to depict it through a comic strip. Earlier in the week, JHKA Principal Rabbi Srolovitz came to classes to teach students about the topic that they would be drawing about.

The topics that students depicted for the comic book included the Declaration of the State of Israel, drip irrigation, Six Day War, Yom Kippur War, Operation Entebbe, post Soviet aliyah, Operation Solomon bringing Jews from Ethiopia and the invention of Waze.
