On Thursday night, May 22, Frisch Girls Varsity Soccer team clinched their spot in the championship game being held on May 28 at North Shore Hebrew Academy. The 7-1 win over Flatbush was a great accomplishment for the team and sends a serious message to their opponent in the championship game, the undefeated Central team.
Thursday marked the last home game not only for the seniors, Carly, Lauren, Tali, Roni, Jordana, and Danya, but also the last home game for our coach, John Iozzia. Coach Iozzia, chose not to return as coach of the Cougars next season. The game itself was rough, but the Frisch girls overcame with the support of many fans, including principle, Dr. Stein. The first two quarters were exhausting for the Cougars, because the Flatbush Girls were aggressive and fast. In the second half, the Cougars were able to take control. All the goals scored by the Frisch team were assisted, showing the great passing the team has established.
The team is incredibly excited to play, and hopefully, win the championship for themselves and for the coach
