On Tuesday, January 23, SAR HS juniors spent a wonderful morning participating in acts of chesed in the local community. They started the day with a spirited grade-wide breakfast. From there, they left in groups with their faculty advisors and fellows to many different volunteer sites including: Manhattan Children’s Center, The Atria, POTS, The Hostos School, AFIYA, BJCC, NY Food Bank and Met Council. Whether they were sorting medical supplies, packing and serving food, working with children who have autism or meeting in small groups with senior citizens, the juniors returned to SAR HS humbled by their experiences and inspired by the programs they visited. It was a special reminder of the importance of chesed in our daily lives and a great way for the juniors to engage in meaningful work together!
