JVS of Metrowest Breaks Records at Taste & Toast Gala

(Courtesy of JVS) Jewish Vocational Service of MetroWest New Jersey (JVS) broke both attendance and fundraising records at its annual Taste & Toast gala held on June 20 in West Orange. The event attracted more than 300 attendees and generated more than $400,000 in corporate sponsorships and charitable donations. In addition, more than $25,000 was raised during the event itself—and matched, dollar-for-dollar, by presenting sponsor Valley National Bank—to acquire and operate a van that will transport JVS clients to and from internships and volunteer positions at businesses and community-based organizations located throughout Essex County.

Taste & Toast is held annually to recognize local community leaders who provide vital support that enables JVS to fulfill its mission of “Helping People Help Themselves.” This year, the event recognized the leadership and generosity of Terri and Michael Goldberg, Lynn and Jeffrey Altschuler and Glenn Langberg of GRL Capital Advisors (JVS Corporate Partner). Each year, JVS provides more than 2,000 people with the tools and training necessary to help them secure and maintain gainful employment. JVS’ diverse clientele includes immigrants and refugees; adults with physical, mental and developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder; military veterans; and job-seekers, including recent college graduates and adults 50+ looking to make a career transition.
