Kaplen JCC on the Palisades 41st Annual Rubin Run Is This Sunday

(Courtesy of JCCOTP) Registration is now open for the 41st Annual Rubin Run, which will be held in person at the Kaplen JCC on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 8. The Rubin Run celebrates family and fitness, while raising important funds for programs that improve the quality of life for children, teens and adults in our community who are differently abled. This exciting USATF (USA Track and Field) sanctioned event traditionally had been attended by more than 1,000 people prior to COVID. he JCC held a 100% virtual event in 2020 and a hybrid in-person and virtual event in 2021.

This year the JCC is thrilled to be able to offer timed, in-person races for the entire family and for competitive athletes at all levels. The Rubin Run will feature three exciting CompuScore-timed race options: a 5k run/walk, a 10k run and a half marathon—all routed through the tree-lined streets of Tenafly, Englewood Cliffs and Englewood. For children 12 and under, there will also be a one-mile fun run with a superhero theme throughout the JCC’s Taub Campus. Children are encouraged to wear a superhero costume.

The Run provides something for everyone, from those who just want to share in a healthy, fun experience, to those who are looking to push themselves and achieve new heights. In preparation for the race, participants can train at the Kaplen JCC or schedule personal or group sessions with professional fitness staff.

“This family-friendly, community-wide event raises important funds for the JCC’s Guttenberg Center for Special Services, which improves the quality of life for people with disabilities,” said JCC Chief Executive Officer Steve Rogers. “Your participation in the run supports those who rely on the JCC and the Guttenberg Center’s vital resources and incredible programming to build their communication skills and self-confidence, and to continue to grow as engaged and important members of our community.”

“Held on Mother’s Day each year, the Rubin Run is a great example of what we work for at the JCC, bringing people together to emphasize a healthy lifestyle for the entire family and setting and achieving fitness goals for all members of our community,’ says Rubin Run Chair Andrew Kent.
