Kaplen JCC on the Palisades Presents Arlyne Berzak Art Show Exhibit

The Kaplen JCC on the Palisades Waltuch Art Gallery, located at 411 E. Clinton Avenue in Tenafly, will display “Inspiration,” an exhibition of collage on arches paper by Arlyne Berzak. The show will be on display November 1-30, with a free meet-the-artist-reception on Thursday, November 9, 7-9 p.m. The Waltuch Art Gallery is a community space that exhibits thematically Jewish artwork, or art produced by Jewish artists.

All gallery exhibits and artist talk-backs and receptions are free and open to the community; JCC membership is not required. All artwork is available for purchase and a portion of the proceeds supports invaluable cultural arts programming at the JCC.

Arlyne Berzak’s “Inspiration” is a special exhibition consisting of beautifully designed, fanciful collages that incorporate a mix of media, including watercolor, oil paint, acrylic and pencil drawings. Her work has appeared in several group shows at the Montclair Museum; the Maywood Library; the Ona Gallery in Tarrytown, New York; the Red Hat Restaurant in Irving, New York; and many private collections.

“Collage is a building experience, where I create pure flights of fancy,” says Berzak. “I am continually collecting unusual papers, pictures and beads that catch my eye to use in my pieces. I begin with a painted background or some interesting paper, then add a central figure and build around it with items that enhance the theme.”

Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-10 p.m.; Friday and Sunday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. (winter hours); closed Saturday and Jewish holidays. Admission is free and open to the community. For more information on gallery exhibitions, contact Nina Bachrach at 201-408-1406 or email [email protected].
