As Chanukah is the Festival of Lights, after learning about fire safety, the kindergarten class at Kinneret Day School conducted some experiments using candles and fire. Employing the scientific process, the children were introduced to the concepts of thermal updraft using empty tea bags, insulation and heat-sink with a water filled balloon, and the creation of a vacuum by burning oxygen with a candle and a jar. The children were fully engaged and wowed!
