Lamdeinu to Host Ninth Annual Chanukah Breakfast With Torah, Tehillim and Mataamim

Honoree Susan Dworken Koss

(Courtesy of Lamdeinu) In this time of challenge to Am Yisrael, Lamdeinu invites the community to join us on Sunday December 10, 27 Kislev, 5784 at 9:15 a.m. for a morning of Torah, Tehillim and Mataamim at our Annual Lamdeinu Chanukah Breakfast. Supporting the daily study of Torah at Lamdeinu is especially important in light of current challenges, as Lamdeinu’s raison d’etre is the spiritual and physical continuity of Am Yisrael and Medinat Yisrael through Torah study and experiential programming..

This year, we are delighted to honor Susan Dworken Koss, who has been a devoted student since Lamdeinu’s inception. An avid parshanut hamikra student, she studies with Dean Rachel Friedman and numerous chevrutot (learning partners) at Lamdeinu every Monday morning. Susan Dworken Koss hails from Brooklyn, where she attended Bais Rivkah for her elementary, high school and seminary education. She received her bachelor’s in history from Brooklyn College, her master’s from University of Maine and did her doctoral work and specialist certification at the Azrieli Graduate School. Dowrken Koss taught both Judaic and General Studies in New York City schools and served for many years as assistant principal for SSDS and as head of school at HYA/Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy.

In her personal life, Dworken Koss is a proud wife, mother and grandmother. Education is both her vocation and avocation, as she was a shul rebbetzin for 32 years and an educator/principal for 35 years. She feels blessed to have interacted with and shaped the futures of so many Jewish children throughout her professional career. Her love of Torah brought her to Lamdeinu where she engages in numerous Tanakh study shiurim and especially enjoys the engagement and vibrancy of chavruta/shiur learning in parshanut hamikra.

The Lamdeinu Breakfast program will include a dvvar Torah by Dean Rachel Friedman, recitation of Tehillim, and words of Torah and appreciation by Susan Dworken Koss.
