Lamdeinu to Launch Post-Sukkot Program on October 13

(Courtesy of Lamdeinu) As the Jewish calendar progresses, so does Lamdeinu! Lamdeinu launches its post-Sukkot program on Tuesday, October 13, with an exciting array of offerings.

While Lamdeinu continues its post-Sukkot semester with its signature classes, such as the popular Parshanut HaMikra at 10:15 a.m. on Mondays with Dean Rachel Friedman, Talmud on Tuesdays at 9 a.m., Halacha on Thursdays at 11 a.m. with Rabbi Gedalyah Berger, and Parashah & Haftarah Pointers on Thursdays at 12:30 p.m. with Rabbi Daniel Fridman, we also offer several new possibilities!

Join Lamdeinu on Mondays at 1 p.m. beginning October 19 to explore the conflicted relationship between Shaul and David in “Falling Apart: Shaul and David in Sefer Shemuel” with Rabbi Hayyim Angel. And keep that spot open in your schedule to learn with Rabbanit Sara Wolkenfeld beginning Monday, November 30, about “Is Honesty the Best Policy? The Case of the Ugly Bride.”

On Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m. beginning October 21, Lamdeinu offers a five-week course on the five Megillot, aptly named “Five Megillot in Five Weeks.” Channa Lockshin Bob, who has been inspiring us from Modiin, Israel to our students’ delight since June, will explore the structure and substance of one Megillah each week. Continuing our Fall Wednesdays, on November 25 our own Dean Rachel Friedman will analyze the relationship of Yaakov and Rachel in a one-time shiur entitled “Yadaati Beni Yadaati: Exploring Yaakov and Rachel.”

Lamdeinu will also be gearing up for Chanukah on Wednesday mornings at 10:15 a.m. beginning on December 2, with a class by Rabbanit Sara Wolkenfeld entitled “Pirsumei Nisa: Chanukah in the Public
Eye.” We will also celebrate the season on Wednesday, December 16 with a Rosh
Chodesh and Chanukah Tefillah, Shirah and Torah event for women. Lamdeinu’s full Chanukah schedule will be coming your way soon, so stay tuned!

On Thursday mornings at 11 a.m., Rabbi
Gedalyah Berger will offer a special series exploring the ways in which the coronavirus has affected our practical applications of Halachah. Join Lamdeinu for “Halachot of Coronavirus” beginning Thursday, October 15, and study timely issues such as what to do in regard to mikvaot, Zoom sedarim, calling elderly people over chag, forming unconventional coronavirus minyanim, and more!

All Lamdeinu classes are open to men and women, except for Parshanut HaMikra and Talmud, which are open to women only. Whether you are a Lamdeinu veteran or would like to join Lamdeinu for the first time, we look forward to learning with you! All classes this semester will take place via Zoom. We invite you to learn with Lamdeinu and become a part of our unique and wonderful chevra … from the comfort of your own home!

Lamdeinu’s full schedule is printed in this week’s edition of the Jewish Link and is also available online. To register, please go to lamdeinu.org/register. For any questions regarding upcoming classes or events, please email [email protected].

Lamdeinu wishes you a Chag Sameach and is looking forward to a wonderful semester of studying in-depth and being inspired, beginning on October 13!
