Lifelong Elizabeth Plans ‘Senior Safety Day’ in Elizabeth for May 11

Elizabeth—Jewish Family Service of Central NJ (JFSCNJ) will hold a “Senior Safety Day” as part of the Lifelong Elizabeth—Age Friendly City Initiative on Thursday, May 11, 9-11:30 a.m., at the Stephen Sampson Senior Center, 800 Anna Street, Elizabeth. A second “Senior Safety Day” will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 9-11:30 a.m., for Spanish-speaking individuals at the O’Donnell Dempsey Senior Center, 618 Salem Avenue, Elizabeth.

The program will include sessions on “Healthy Nutrition Options” by Corey Wu-Jung of the Shaping Elizabeth Program, and “Fall Prevention” by a JFSCNJ staff nurse. The program will include free blood pressure screenings, raffles and giveaways.

Thanks to funding from the Grotta Fund for Senior Care, officials and partners throughout the City of Elizabeth are coming together to Elizabeth to develop a livable city for all.

The Lifelong Elizabeth is a community-led, city-endorsed initiative that aims to make our city a great place to grow up and grow old. We’d like to thank our partners who include Rutgers University Bloustein School of Planning & Public Policy, the City of Elizabeth, Division of Aging, Trinitas Regional Medical Center, Holy Redeemer Homecare and the Gateway YMCA for their ongoing support.

The program is free and open to the entire public. Contact RSVP to Jill Dispenza, 908-352-8375, [email protected], if you want further information about the Lifelong
Elizabeth.
