Lone Soldiers Mark Thanksgiving

(Courtesy of LSC) On Thursday evening, November 22, The Lone Soldier Center held their annual Thanksgiving Dinner in Tel Aviv. There were close to 1,000 lone soldiers at the dinner who enjoyed an evening of delicious homemade food in the tradition of Thanksgiving, including stuffing, pecan pie, mashed potatoes, gravy and turkey, loads of turkey—28 to be exact! The incredible community of Ramat Beit Shemesh and Beit Shemesh took on the task of cooking all the food. The soldiers were also treated to music and beer on tap sponsored by Beer Bazaar.

The turkeys would not have been possible without the help and support of David Ashendorf of Teaneck and friends who raised the funds to purchase the turkeys. The center relies heavily on donations, holiday campaigns and bar/bat mitzvah projects to help provide for the more than 7,000 lone soldiers currently serving in the IDF.

Michael Oren, a former ambassador to the United States as well as a former lone soldier, was the guest speaker at the event. The soldiers had a wonderful time connecting with friends, relaxing, dancing and having a good laugh all around, and of course incredible food!

On Thursday night, December 7, The Lone Soldier Center hosted a Chanukah party with plenty of gifts and good food for everyone.
