First graders at Lubavitch on the Palisades School are officially published authors. A publishing party took place at Womrath’s Bookstore in Tenafly on May 27. Students have worked throughout the year in order to become authors. Morah Shari, first grade teacher says, “Since the first day of school, the students have been practicing for this day. They came in barely knowing how to write a sentence and now they can write full books.” The students brainstormed in order to come up with characters, a setting and a plot. Each story has a beginning, a middle and an end, and each child illustrated his or her own book. This is an example of the writing process at its best. As a culmination of their work, each student read his book to an audience of fellow students and family members. Family and faculty took great pride in the children’s work.
Womrath’s Bookstore hosts this event every year. They generously offer a discount on books and other items to parents who attend the event.
