LPS Raises $1,000,000 for New Building in 36 Hours

On May 25 and 26, Lubavitch on the Palisades in Tenafly held a campaign to raise $1,000,000 for the school. Three groups of donors generously agreed to match each donation that came in within 36 hours, which meant that every dollar given was really tripled in value.

A few months ago, Lubavitch on the Palisades was granted approval by the Tenafly Zoning Board to expand their building in order to accommodate their growing preschool and grade school. The upcoming expansion is a $4,000,000, 18,000 square foot project that will add another floor to LOTP. The addition will include a 7,500 square foot gym, eight new classrooms and a state-of-the-art science lab.

The response from the community was tremendous. Students brought in their piggy banks and tzedakah boxes “to make the building bigger.” Parents and staff went above and beyond sharing the campaign, donating and asking friends and family to join. Parents and community members volunteered their time and energy, making personal phone calls soliciting support. LOTP raised over $1,004,000, an excess of the original target. Executive Director Rabbi Shain said, “Over 700 people became our partners! More than the money and generosity, the purpose of this campaign was to give everyone a chance to really be a part of our growth. Each person made a difference. The unity our community showed was amazing. It shows us that when we work together b’achdut, we can achieve our goals. This is what keeps the Jewish nation alive and growing, our unity and togetherness.”
