Ma’ayanot Commemorates Ta’anit Esther With Miriam Feman

Ta’anit Esther offers us a chance to reflect upon and appreciate the many berakhot that we have in our community. This is especially clear when we recognize how Jewish communities in galut have often been forced to sacrifice so much in order to live a Jewish life in safety. Ma’ayanot students were honored to hear from Miriam Feman, head shomeret at the Teaneck Mikvah, recounting her harrowing escape from the revolution in Iran in 1979 and her eventual settling in Teaneck with her husband and children. Via Zoom, students watched a video of Feman telling her emotional story as she recounted witnessing so many miracles from Hashem on the single day that she braved the streets of the revolution in order to secure her passport. At the end of the video presentation, Feman answered questions from students and told a charming story of how her parents met at the kevarim of Esther and Mordechai. Students were enthralled by her bravery and determination.
