Throughout this year Ma’ayanot has scheduled “community time” for grade wide sessions giving students and staff dedicated time to address topics of interest outside of the classroom. Recently, sessions have focused on mental health supporting the emotional well being of students. It was such a pleasure to welcome back Shera Dubitsky, mother of Sophie ‘16, to speak to freshmen and sophomores in the program “Who am I, really?” The high school years are filled with self exploration, and Dubitsky offered students the opportunity to tap into their emotional selves to understand and acknowledge the complexity of the teenage experience. The session promoted resilience and empathy, asking students to reflect on the needs and perspectives of others, and teaching them that kindness and compassion can help guide them in their journey.
