Ma’ayanot’s annual yom iyun, held on Tzom Gedaliah, Sunday, September 24, was the perfect way to start the new year—learning Torah together as a community. The keynote speaker, Rabbi Zev Prince, Ma’ayanot’s director of co-curricular programming, spoke on the topic of “Soles on Fire: Neilat Ha’Sandal—Baring Our Souls While Uncovering Our Feet.” The keynote address was followed by shiurim given by the school’s distinguished faculty, including the school’s principal, Rivka Kahan, as well as Gabrielle Berger, Leah Herzog, Shiffy Friedman, Suzanne Cohen, Rabbi Donny Besser, Shifra Schapiro, and Yael Weil. Ma’ayanot is grateful to their sponsors: The Staiman Family in commemoration of the yahrzeit of Mr. Staiman’s father, Shalom Tzvi ben Aharon, Shalom Staiman z”l, grandfather of Leora (‘05), Shifra (‘06), Atara (‘09) and Etana (‘12); and Deena Yellin and Dr. Moshe Fuksbrumer and family in commemoration of the 23rd yahrzeit of their beloved sister, Judith Yellin, z”l, aunt of Meital (‘20). Recordings of all lectures will be posted online at https://www.maayanot.org/community/.
