As part of its continuing effort to personalize Torah, Ma’ayanot hosted Rabbi Dov Singer, renowned Israeli educator and leader of Lifnai Velifnim, a program dedicated to building a culture of religious growth in schools. The approach focuses in general on ways of being that enable a deep relationship with God. In educational terms, it has developed an approach that trains and empowers teachers to develop their own inner life, self awareness and communication skills so that they can then do the same for their students. A cohort of teachers has been meeting weekly since the beginning of the year to share and grow their own capacities for spiritual growth with some teachers then implementing these methods in their classrooms. All of this is part of an initiative that has been ongoing for more than two years at Ma’ayanot to encourage students to find a more personal connection to their learning, even as they continue to deepen and broaden their textual skills.
