On Tuesday, March 1, nine girls from Ma’ayanot attended HAFTR’s annual Yeshiva League Model Congress competition. The student senators wrote bills or resolutions and presented them to their committees. Their fellow senators questioned them, debated the bills, gave speeches for and against the bills and finally voted on them. This year, under the tutelage of the team captain, Ella Nasser, and faculty advisor Emma Horowitz, Ma’ayanot’s senators wrote bills on campaign finance reform, family leave, fossil fuels, deforestation and more. The results are in: senior Sarah Nordlicht tied for first place overall! Junior Avigayil Levy earned second place in the Labor Committee, while senior Layla Sanft tied for second place in the always fast-paced and competitive Crisis Committee. Kol hakavod!
