The Ma’ayanot volleyball team consists of two seniors, captain Adira Levine and Reina Goldman; three juniors, Eden Schechter, Shoshi Blech and Lilly Fuchs; and finally, three sophomores Gila Shepotofsky, Meital Fuksbrumer and JV captain Rachel Landesman.
Their first game against the host school was bright and early at 8:30 a.m. The Rapids came up short. Their second match that day was against the Rapids regular rival, the Frisch Cougars. Unfortunately, the Rapids lost. The third match that day was against Shalhevet and the Rapids were successful and won in two sets.
The next day, the team was hungry for redemption. The first game was against the higher seeded Frisch and the Rapids won in a close battle. The girls were excited to continue on in the tournament and play in the championships Saturday night. They were neck and neck against the undefeated YULA team, consistently scoring on deep saves and key hits. The Rapids never gave up and consistently stayed mentally focused cheering in between points. They lost in the fourth match 25-23, and came in second place in the tournament. It was a bittersweet end to the season.
Special thanks to Coach Chayim and Coach Shani for coming on the trip.
