Ma’ayanot Students Awarded Funding at NCSY JUMP Conference

Ma’ayanot students impressed the judges at NCSY’s JUMP conference last week. This conference was an opportunity for yeshiva day school teenagers from all around the country to identify problems within their communities and come up with solutions for them. JUMP stands for Jewish Unity Mentoring Program, and it challenges, empowers and trains teens to make positive changes in their communities. The Ma’ayanot team identified a problem that they believe is a real struggle for many students. They recognized that many of their fellow students daven in school, but have a harder time davening at home, (when they don’t have a set time or space for it). To solve this, the team came up with “Home Beis: Game Day is Every Day.”

The group plans to publish an interactive journal that enables teens to break davening down into meaningful and manageable steps. Each page will feature a specific tefilla to incorporate into their davening routine, and will include links to explanations of the words, inspirational songs and a section to personalize what they feel is important to daven for on that day. The judges awarded full funding to the girls to publish and promote the “Home Beis” journal. One of the judges, Orly Wahba, founder and CEO of Life Vest Inside, was so invested in this project that she offered to mentor the team as they work to create this journal.

The Ma’ayanot JUMP team believes they can make a difference with “Home Beis.” The team is excited and looking forward to sharing this journal with the students in the community! The Ma’ayanot team thanks NCSY for this amazing opportunity!
