MDS Celebrates 80 Years At Annual Dinner

On Sunday, March 19, Manhattan Day School celebrated the “bright lights” of the school while overlooking the Hudson River at the 80th annual MDS dinner. Students were spotlighted throughout the evening, including during a Mishna Yomi siyum on masechet Eruvin and moving choir and musical ambassador performances. Over 300 parents, grandparents, faculty and alumni mingled over incredible food by Prime Events by Mindel Chaya. Yehudis Feinstein, Shira Glatt, Yona Glass, Karen Gurtman and Dossie Katz each received distinguished faculty awards for their decades of service to MDS. The Charles and Els Bendheim Community Service Award was bestowed upon longtime UWS Rabbi and MDS teacher Rabbi Allen Schwartz, and Tova Epstein, current co-president and lay leader par excellence was the guest of honor of the evening. As Dr. Pesha Kletenik, head of school, shared in her remarks at the beginning and end of the program, “the future is bright at MDS.”
