The MDY Warriors took on the MTA Lions on Wednesday in the MYHSAL quarterfinals. The Warriors came out firing, knocking down three triples in the first quarter including two from Jack Dweck to jump out to a 16 to 9 lead after the opening frame.
MDY’s defense set the tone early in the second quarter, forcing turnovers that led to easy transition buckets. By halftime, the Warriors had built a commanding 40 to 22 lead.
MTA fought back in the third, cutting the deficit to 52 to 38, but the Warriors stayed composed and closed out the game with a strong fourth quarter, securing a 67 to 53 victory.
Josh Chabbott led all scorers with 19 points on 7 for 10 shooting adding 8 rebounds. Jack Dweck finished with 17 points while Meyer Sakkal stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists.
The Warriors improve to 11-5 in league play and 21-9 overall.
