On Tuesday, May 26, Rabbi Ephraim Travis, currently the Jewish Chaplin at Fort Bragg and one of only eight Orthodox chaplains in the United States Army, spoke to Ma’ayanot students about why he joined the United States Army; he shared stories of the bravery of soldiers who served in our recent wars. He also urged students to view Memorial Day as far more than a day of barbeques and shopping, and he encouraged students to both feel and express genuine hakarat hatov (gratitude) for the ultimate sacrifice many soldiers have made for our great country.
